Headworth Wins Five Henry County Fair RacesDriver Gets Booze Cruiser Past Oh My Sam for Colt's Seventh Win
Driver Mark Headworth closed with a rush at the Henry County Fair, winning four of the day's last six races. Booze Cruiser's slim victory over Oh My Sam thrilled fans.
Mark Headworth not only scored in the greatest number of races in this year's Henry County Fair harness racing in Napoleon, Ohio, he arguably drove the most exciting contest of the day as he got the hard-charging Booze Cruiser's nose past Oh My Sam at the wire in Wednesday's Race No. 5. The three-year-old pacer cruised the mile in 2:04-1/5, the best clocking of the day. Tom Moore Jr. drove Oh My Sam, who went to post for the 22nd time. The bay gelding pacer has five wins, as well as four seconds and five thirds on his career slate. Fair board and race officials scheduled Wednesday afternoon's full, but abbreviated program after Monday and Tuesday evening cards were washed away by lightning, thunder, and a three-inch deluge of rainfall. The last four races from Monday's original schedule, and the last six contests from Tuesday's original card were canceled due to time constraints for other events previously set on Wednesday. Headworth also reached the line first in races three, seven, and eight with Northern Shine, She'sa Town Girl, and Big Mama Gerdie, respectively in the day's second set of contests, and in Race No.1 with Hustlin Hooray in the second post of the day. Booze Cruiser Son of Yankee CruiserBooze Cruiser, a Yankee Cruiser son, and Oh My Sam, son of Nobleland Sam, came to the Henry County Fair races with two of the best records in the barns. Nobleland Sam, in garnering second place in Race No. 5, hiked his lifetime racing record to four second place finishes, five wins, and five thirds from 22 starts. Booze Cruiser has one second and two thirds to go with his seven wins from thirteen career posts. Yankee Cruiser had four progeny starters on the day, and three of them brought home the bacon.
